VERACOL® Oxydation Dyes

The common oxidation reagents are hydrogen peroxide and ammonium hydroxide. Alkaline is required to facilitate the oxidation reaction, and the reducing agent to inhibit oxidation of precursors by air. The primary intermediates are usually para-substituted amino aromatic compounds while the dye couplers are electron-rich aromatic phenols or amines. Primary intermediates and dye couplers are low molecular weight materials that pass through the cuticle into the hair shaft where they oxidize and combine to generate a larger colored molecule, which remains inside the hair structure. Combination of different dye precursors and dye couplers gives different coloring affect. Demi-permanent hair coloring is similar to the permanent hair coloring in terms of oxidative dyes but resembles the lasting properties of a semi-permanent hair color. The amount of peroxide is less and therefore offers less damage to the hair.
